The Gardens’ Must-See Attractions

Spanning over 101 hectares of land, Gardens by the Bay offers a mix of free and unpaid attractions that warrant multiplevisits. If this is your first time, though, you may want to start with the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest. These massive conservatories are covered with glass panels all over that allows for the plants to receive abundant sunlight and earns them the title of the world's largest columnless green houses.

Take a stroll around the meticulously landscaped gardens of the Flower Dome, where it is spring all year round. Listed as the largest glass green house by Guinness World Records, the Flower Dome houses exotic plants and flowers from 5 continents, including ancient-looking Baobabs native to Africa.

As you step into the Cloud Forest, you will be transported to a tropical mountain with a 35-metre tall waterfall flowing from its peak. Meander through the misty Tree Top Walk and Cloud Walk to enjoy the view from different elevations, and make your way to the mountain top where curious carnivorous plants are on display.

Fans of fairy tales, watch the dreamy setting of your bedtime favourites come to life at Floral Fantasy. This conservatory will charm you with its artistic arrangements of plants, foliage, and flowers divided into 4 thematic realms, aptly named Dance, Float, Waltz and Drift. Walk underneath a floral ceiling onto a forest where you will be greeted by woodland creatures and a giant sculpture made of dried and preserved flowers.

Venturing outdoors, you will find yourself in awe of the Supertree Grove. The attraction, which served as the filming location for the Hollywood blockbuster CrazyRich Asians, is perhaps one of Singapore’s most easily recognized icons. More than 200 species of tropical plants are grown on the 12 futuristic structures that make up the grove. Just as plants rely on the sunlight to photosynthesise, the Supertrees are ingeniously designed to harvest energy from solar cells.

While the view from the forest floor makes a great backdrop for your photos, the sights from the canopy are not to be missed either. Take in a bird’s-eye view of the Gardens and its surrounding Marina Bay area from the OCBC Skyway, which is suspended 22 metres above the ground.

Best Time to Visit Gardens by the Bay
