Taytay Hotels

Taytay in the province of Rizal is well-known for being a mecca for cheap shopping thrills through the Taytay Tiangge (bazaar). Many thrifty fashionistas flock to this part of the Philippines to visit and buy from locally-made dressmakers in an effort to support the local fashion industry.

Taytay is bordered by Cainta in the north, the cities of Pasig and Taguig in the West, Antipolo in the east, and Angono in the south. It’s also quite near to Laguna de Bay, so some resorts within the city offer breathtaking views.

How to Go

By land transportation

From Metro Manila, take the C-6 Road if you’re coming from the south of the metropolis, or Ortigas Avenue from Pasig City if you’re coming from Makati and further up north.

Getting Around

There are jeepneys, buses, tricycles, and other modes of transportation that can get you to any attraction in Taytay.

Tourist Attractions

The number one attraction is the Taytay Tiangge, where people can buy affordable local clothing. These fashion finds are made by the dressmakers of Taytay, who used to set up shop in Manila’s shopping cheaper shopping areas like Divisoria, Greenhills, and Baclaran.

After a day of shopping, you may take a dip at Club Manila East, a water park with a fun wave pool for kids and the kids-at-heart to enjoy. However, if you want to take a walk on the wild side, go to Tres Escalon Falls located in Barangay Dolores, for a stunning view of fresh water cascading through a narrow gorge beneath it. It’s also a good place for intimate events like wedding receptions.

Top Things to Do

Shop till you drop at Taytay Tiangge. You can spend PHP1,000 and you’ll already have a haul going home. For those who don’t like shopping at all, you can take a ride to other cities nearby Taytay or Angono to visit cultural sites.

Where to Eat

Casual dining is often the best way to nourish yourself around Taytay. The Bang Café offers some Taytay local viands on certain days, such as Bininyabasan sa Bangus—or sour soup with milkfish, similar to Manila’s sinigang—on Thursdays. It’s also worth trying DonnAppetit Garden Grill’s highly recommended pork sisig (sizzling deep fried pork parts), sizzling tofu, and sizzling chicken.

Nightlife

There are many bars open until the early morning. For laughs and a good night out with the guys (or gals), get a table at Emgrande Comedy Bar and Restaurant. For chill nights, get a pint of beer at East District Bar and Grill. Finally, Night Shift Club is also good for large groups.

Where to Stay

Because of its proximity to Manila, many travelers tend to find hotels there instead. However, if you want to be closer to the “Garment Capital of the Philippines”, you have several choices for budget hotels. For less than PHP2,000/night, sleep at Mariposa Budget Hotel, Privato Hotel, and The Exchange Regency Hotel.

For those who would like more amenities in their hotel accommodations, it’s worth staying at LeBlanc Hotel and Restaurant for around PHP 4,000/night or Loreland Farm Resort.
