How to Go

By land transportation

There are various routes to reach Lucban from Manila by public transportation. There’s the Manila-Lucena-Lucban Route, Manila-Calamba-Lucban, and the Manila-Sta. Cruz-Lucban route. If you are going to drive, make sure to take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and exit at Calamba. You will pass through the towns of Calamba, Los Baños, Bay, Victoria, Pila, Sta. Cruz, Pagsanjan, Cavinti Luisiana and then to the town of Lucban.

Getting Around

To go around Lucban area and nearby towns, the common modes of transportation are jeepneys and tricycles. Take a jeepney for long distance travel within the municipality and the neighboring towns while tricycles are best for short distance trip.

Tourist Attractions

Lucban is well-known for its Pahiyas Festival where it showcases the locals’ gratitude to San Isidro Labrador for their bountiful harvest. Aside from its prestigious festival, some of the highlights of Lucban include Kamay ni Hesus, The Church of St. Louis Bishop of Toulouse, and the Rizal Shrine.

The place is also famous among pilgrims because of Kamay ni Hesus and The Church of St. Louis Bishop of Toulouse. Kamay ni Hesus is a five-hectare shrine located at Brgy. Tinamnan, Lucban, Quezon. Some of the attractions on this sacred place included Via Dolorosa Grotto, Healing Church, Noah’s Ark and the Sea of Galilee.

The Church of St. Louis Bishop of Toulouse is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines that was built in 1593. It is also famous for its baroque design and adding to its attraction is the gardens and grottos around it. The church houses San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers.

Make sure to come at Lucban on the month of May to join and see the Pahiyas Festival. Celebrated every 15th of May, it is one of the country’s biggest and most colorful harvest festivals. The festival is made in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, as thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. All the local’s houses are decorated with agricultural harvest and colorful rice wafers, called kiping. This tradition is an annual competition to show the locals’ creativity. After the announcement of the winner, the decorations of the house will be thrown away to the huge flock of people as free treats. The highlight of the festival is the procession of the image of San Isidro Labrador.

Filipinos are known to be religious thus a visit to the Church of St. Louis Bishop of Toulouse, home to the image of San Isidro Labrador, will always be on the list. For more spiritual adventure, go to the Kamay ni Hesus to see the 15 life-size stations of the cross. One activity that you should not miss in Kamay ni Hesus is climbing the 290 plus steps going atop of the hill where a 50-foot statue of the Risen Christ is built. Kamay ni Hesus is also known for the healing masses conducted every Wednesday and Saturdays.

Where to Eat

Lucban is well-known for its pancit habhab. This is a local noodle or pancit that originated from the Quezon Province. Unlike any other pancit, it is made from dried flour noodles or known as Miki Lucban. What’s fascinating about this delicacy is that it is served over a banana leaf and is eaten without using any utensils. You have to try it to know how. For the best pancit habhab experience, visit the Old Center Panciteria.

Other specialty that is a must try in Lucban is their Lucban Longganisa and Hardinera. If you want to try these foods, visit Abcede’s Restaurant – a Filipino style “turo-turo” wherein they only serve regional Southern Tagalog Cuisine and some national dishes.

During the eve of Pahiyas Festival, you can stroll along the streets of Lucban. Enjoy and be fascinated with how the locals decorate their houses for the upcoming festival.
