Ayala Alabang Hotels

Just 21 kilometers southeast of Manila is the peaceful neighborhood of Ayala Alabang, the third largest barangay in Muntinlupa City. Regarded as the city center, this barangay is home to the Alabang Town Center, Madrigal Business Park, and Ayala Alabang Village, a premier residential community where the country’s elite live. At a Glance

In 1972, the Madrigal Family offered their 420-hectares of land in Alabang to Ayala Corporation, one of the oldest major conglomerates in the Philippines. Instead of buying the land, the corporation offered to develop the sprawling grounds, which was then a mango plantation. The family agreed with the corporation’s proposal. After a few years, land buyers came pouring in. After a few years of working on the area, land buyers came pouring in.

Following a period of careful development, the Barangay New Alabang came to be in 1982, with the late Don Enrique Zobel being elected as the first barangay chairman. In 2003, the community’s board members renamed the area to Barangay Ayala Alabang. Since then, the barangay grew to become one of most sought-after residential and business communities we know today. With its many first-rate facilities, beautiful nature parks, and closeness to the country’s big business districts of Muntinlupa, Makati, and Pasig, Barangay Ayala Alabang is sure to please travelers from all walks of life.

How to Go

By land transportation

Travelers can reach this barangay by riding buses on EDSA that are headed for Alabang. These buses will pass through SLEX. Upon arriving at Alabang, take Alabang-Zapote or Alabang-Baclaran jeepneys to get to Ayala Alabang.  There are also UV Express vans that ply Alabang-Zapote-Baclaran routes to reach the village.

Tourists also have the option of boarding trains at the LRT 1. Get off at Baclaran Station and from there, jeepneys or UV Express vans can take visitors to Ayala Alabang.

Getting Around

The barangay has jeepneys and vans available for tourists to ride in to get to different destinations. But within Ayala Alabang Village, most residents own private cars, so there aren’t too many choices for public transportation. There are almost no tricycles in the area. However, there are a few village jeeps available that can take visitors to various points in the area. Otherwise, your best bet would be to ride a taxicab.

Tourist Attractions

Considered as the city center of Muntinlupa, Ayala Alabang is home to many tourist draws worth visiting. The exclusive Ayala Alabang Village is a definite must-visit. This posh community is the home of wealthy and famous Filipinos. It is also an official bird sanctuary and is brimming with lush trees and colorful gardens. In this tranquil subdivision, travelers can take an easy stroll to see a variety of flora and migratory bird species.

Also within AAV is the Makiling Park and Narra Park, places where visitors can take the load off and just enjoy a pleasant afternoon. The beautiful and picturesque surroundings are a sight to behold. It is also a great site for picnics. Small fairs and outdoor parties are often held in these parks as well.

The St. James the Great Parish on Cuenca Street is another sight travelers should not miss. A large fountain and a beautiful courtyard will greet visitors upon entering the vicinity of the parish. This stunning church is massive in size and resembles the old churches of Rome with its concrete arches and porticos over entrances.  

Top Things to Do

With towering trees and fresh air, this barangay is perfect for those who want to escape the business and chaos of Metro Manila. Most of the things to do here reflect the laid-back lifestyles of the residents.

One of the most recommended activities is to go biking. There are individual lanes for cyclists who want to explore the barangay on their bikes. There are also various bike rental shops in the village. The calm and quiet surroundings are sure to rejuvenate one’s senses.

The Alabang Country Club, located within Ayala Alabang Village, is another place worth checking out. In this sports complex, visitors can play a round of golf, ride horses, or play polo matches. Being an exclusive country club, Alabang Country Club only allows members or people who are friends or family of members to make use of the facilities.

Of course, don’t forget to go shopping at the various retail stores in Alabang Town Center. The mall has international chains like Marks & Spencer, as well as trusted local brands like Rustan’s Department Store. There are even spas, yoga centers, movie theaters, and other attractions for visitors.

If there’s something this barangay is famous for, it’s for their wide selection of amazing dining destinations that can please even the pickiest of palates.

The Alabang Town Center or “The Town” as it is known among locals  has a variety of restaurants and cafes that serve delectable dishes and delicious beverages. From fast food joints and various kiosks to quaint cafés and fine-dining restaurants, this mall has it all.  

There are also many great restaurants along Madrigal Avenue that can satisfy hungry travelers. Chairman Wang’s at Molito Commercial Complex is one such place. This restaurant serves classic and modern Chinese dishes. Chairman Wang is also known for letting customers watch the kitchen staff prepare hand-pulled noodles. The restaurant’s best-sellers include smoked chicken breast noodle soup, primed beef noodle soup, and black olive fried rice.

Coffee and dessert lovers will also be happy to know that there are charming cafés outside of Alabang Town Center, such as the Kapihan by Luna Specialty Coffee in Madrigal Business Park. They offer Filipino breakfast dishes and lunch specials, hot plates, sandwiches, and specialty coffees like piccolo latte, espresso cortado, and White Rabbit candyccino. Must-try desserts are their caramel yema chiffon cake, tres leches cake, and dark choco Milo cookies.

The nightlife in Ayala Alabang is much calmer compared to other places in Metro Manila, but this doesn’t mean that there aren’t any worthwhile places to enjoy the night here. The Alabang Town Center houses many great lounges, movie theaters, bars, and pubs where one can drink craft beers and other drinks. San Mig Pub, Barcino, and the Hub Bar and Resto are just a few hotspots where one can de-stress after a tiring day.

• Stop by the St. James the Great Christmas Bazaar. Start buying those Christmas presents early by attending this grand bazaar. Every November, more than 500 concessionaires participate in this event, which is one of the most anticipated holiday events for residents of southern Metro Manila.

• Take advantage of hotel promos. As most hotels in Ayala Alabang are on the pricier side, make sure to grab promos and deals to get lower rates.

• Make sure to bring more than one identification card. Areas such as Ayala Alabang Village follow a strict “No Sticker, No Entry” policy. Vehicles that don’t have a valid sticker will need to leave IDs at the entry gates.
