Surabaya is the pulse of the economy and tourism in the Eastern Java region. Specifically, the East Java capital is the second metropolitan city in Indonesia, after Jakarta. The city is often visited for business, commercial, recreation, and education.
The visitors coming from the west of Java can reach Surabaya by train. Bandung and Surabaya are connected by a train connecting Bandung Kiaracondong Station (KAC) – Surabaya Gubeng (SGU) Station. The intercity trip takes about 13.5 hours per trip, costs between Rp94.000 – Rp445.000 per person.

Kiaracondong Station is the second large class station in Bandung, after the Hall Station. The station is addressed on Jembatan Opat Street, Kiaracondong – Bandung 40283. It is located on the border of Babakansari District with Kebonjayanti District. One of the most popular tourist attractions nearby is the Trans Studio Mall that takes about 10 minutes trip to the west.
The station is under the management of Indonesian Railways Company (PT KAI) Operational Area 2 Bandung and is a crossing spot for the economy and mixed class trains, for medium and long distance. Kiaracondong Station is already providing an online ticketing system and a self-check-in to simplify the passenger.
Gubeng Station is located at Stasiun Gubeng Street, Pacar Keling, Tambaksari, Surabaya, East Java 60727. It is exactly positioned in the middle of the city and is just across the Kapal Selam Surabaya Monument. It makes Gubeng Station is easily accessible from anywhere with any kind of transports, including the public transport.
Gubeng Station is under the management of PT KAI Operational Area 8 Surabaya. As the largest station in the operating area, Gubeng Station provides six railways for the south and east Surabaya train route. The facilities provided in the station is using the latest standard, from the online ticketing system to the self-check-in method similar to the airport system.
Surabaya is also known by the nickname “The City of Heroes”. The nickname is very accurate for a city with such a hard-fought battle history. Several of the tourist attractions are also reminders of the heroic narration.
The monument is the landmark and is the City of Heroes mascot. It is also a memorial of the Surabaya youth’s battle to achieve proclamation. The Tugu Pahlawan can be found right in the middle of Condong plaza on Pahlawan Street. It is located in the middle of the city, not far from the East Java Town Hall Office. Other than the displaying the courage of Surabaya, the 41 meters high monument is also having a museum in its basement. The museum collection is exhibiting a diorama about the Surabaya youth’s battle to attain the independence.
Kapal Selam Monument is located on Embong Kaliasin region, on Pemuda Street, Genteng, Surabaya, next to the Plaza Surabaya (Delta Plaza). The local people named it “Monkasel”. The monument with the shape of the KRI Pasoepati 410 submarine is the symbol of Indonesian maritime greatness. The 76.6 meters long submarine belongs to Indonesian Navy, produced by the Soviet Union in 1952. The visitor can explore the inside part of the monument while listing the heroic stories of the Indonesian Navy battle from the local guide.
Surabaya Museum is a new tourist attraction. The museum that is officially opened on May 3rd, 2015 was transforming the SIOLA building basement that is originally a cultural heritage, into a historical center. The museum is a home for about 1000 historical objects related to the city history. Not only the antiques belong to the government, but the visitors can also enjoy the display of WR Supratman's violin replica – the national anthem Indonesia Raya composer, Dutch era archives, ancient becak, steam locomotive, and cultural artifacts such as shadow play and Wayang Potehi. The museum can be found on Tunjungan 1 Street, Surabaya.
