Malindo Air is a Malaysia-based airline that offers flights in affordable fares. Malindo is an abbreviation of "Malaysia – Indonesia", describing how the airline was created from the firm cooperation between Malaysian National Aerospace and Defense Industries (NADI) and Lion Air Indonesia. To date, Malindo Air has flown to 100 cities in Southeast Asia, offering two class types including economy and business.
Malindo Air Economy Class presents a flying experience at reasonable costs, especially for those traveling long distances. As long as the baggage is not over 20 kilograms, passengers need not worry about receiving an excess baggage charge. The distance between seats gives enough legroom, so passengers can straighten their legs when feeling tired. Despite being in an economy class flight, passengers can still feel comfortable.
Flying in Economy Class, passengers can choose between regular or vegetarian foods, such as curry chicken rice or curry vegetable rice, complete with drinks and biscuits. The best part about it is meals and beverages are available at affordable prices. And to top it all, the meals are served to the passengers’ seats by attentive attendants.
Malindo Air’s Premium Economy Class offers a flying experience similar to executive-class flights, but with a slightly more affordable price. This class also provides a spacious legroom between seats, a WiFi connection, as well as free checked baggage allowance of 30 kg. Meal services, extra pillows and blankets are also available for passengers so they can rest comfortably during their flight.
Passengers can indulge themselves in a diverse menu, rich in Malaysian and Indian flavors such as barbecue chicken or rice with roasted chicken. A variety of drinks are also available to accompany the passenger's dining experience, from water, to coffee and tea. If passengers who prefer a lighter meal, snacks such as fruits or biscuits are also available to be purchased.
With a baggage allowance of 40 kg, Malindo Air's Business Class offers an executive-class flying experience, especially for those traveling long distance. The space between seats is quite spacious, with pillows and blankets provided in each seat, perfect for resting. WiFi connection is also available if passengers would like to catch up on work during the flight. Alternatively, a tablet device is provided for passengers to watch entertainment shows or listen to music.
Business Class passengers will be served a welcome drink and snacks on their flight. Moreover, passengers can purchase main course meals such as nasi lemak (coconut rice) with vegetables, bread and fruits. Passengers can also order a variety of drinks, from chocolate milk, to tea and coffee.
Malindo Miles is a loyalty program offered to regular passengers of long-distance travels, or frequent flyers. As members of Malindo Miles, passengers can collect points based on the number of flights and distances traveled. When passengers have collected a certain number of points, they are entitled to a Malindo Miles Platinum card. One of the advantages of Malindo Miles Platinum is free access to the Executive Lounge in KLIA2. Points can also be redeemed for a free flight with Malindo Air.
On 8 September 2015, Malindo Air opened its Executive Lounge located in the Main Terminal Building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 2. Meanwhile, Economy Class passengers who would like to enjoy the facilities of the Executive Lounge can do so by paying a fee of RM65 (adults) or RM30 (children), applicable for a 3-hours stay in the lounge. Malindo Air’s Executive Lounge operates daily from 06:00 to 22:00.
Malindo Air’s female flight attendants wear a kebaya and skirt. The kebaya is white, with a low, V-necked collar and 7/8-length sleeves. The skirt is in similar pattern to the pattern of the ties worn by Malindo Air’s pilots, which is batik in red and purple. The uniform, with its kebaya top and batik pattern skirts and ties, represents Malindo Air’s identity. Low-heeled and dress shoes as well as watches and identity cards complete the uniform.
