Lufthansa is an airline based in Germany and one of the founders of Star Alliance. Based on the number of passengers carried, Lufthansa ranked as the fifth biggest airline in Europe. Lufthansa currently offers flight services to 18 domestic destinations and 193 international destinations in 81 countries across Africa, America, Asia, and Europe. Lufthansa offers four types of seat class, which are Economy Class, Premium Economy Class, Business Class, and First Class.
Facilities offered in Lufthansa’s Economy Class vary depending on the flight distance. While passengers on a short-haul flight will feel comfortable with seats that provide a spacious legroom, passengers on a long-haul flight can relax even more with the 40-cm wide seats equipped with an adjustable headrest. In addition, passengers on a long-haul flight can enjoy the in-flight entertainment facility offered, with contents varying from the latest movies, international radio channels, and special TV programs.
In-flight meals in the Economy Class vary depending on the flight route, ranging from snack, sandwiches, to main dining menu. Lufthansa also provides special menus for children and passengers who prefer a more nutritious meal.
Lufthansa offers more spacious and comfortable seats in its Premium Economy Class cabin, with a generous amount of legroom, footrest, and additional storage space. Designed exclusively for Lufthansa Premium Economy Class, these seats offer up to 50% more space on all sides. Passengers can also experience an extensive in-flight entertainment system through an 11-inch or 12-inch screen in each seat, complete with a detachable remote control and power outlet. In addition, Lufthansa also provides a travel kit at each seat to help passengers arrive at their destination feeling refreshed.
Passengers will be greeted on board with a fruity welcome drink. Meanwhile, during the flight, passengers can choose from the menu, which features delicacies from Central Europe to the Far East, and enjoy their meal served on fine China tableware.
Whether traveling for business or leisure, Lufthansa Business Class offers passengers the perfect ambiance on board, providing a sense of privacy and plenty of space to work or relax. On short-haul and medium-haul flights, the middle seat is always kept empty to provide more personal space for passengers. On long-haul flights, seats can be transformed into an almost two-meter-long fully flat bed, which is perfect to relax during the flight. Business Class passengers can also enjoy the in-flight entertainment programs through the individual screen, ranging from sports programs, TV series, or music. In addition, passengers will also get priority during check-in and boarding, as well as access to Lufthansa airport lounges.
Passengers traveling in Lufthansa Business Class can expect a restaurant-quality dining experience. Lufthansa offers high-quality, varied and fresh meals, served on fine tableware. In addition, an extensive selection of wine is also available to complete the dining experience.
Lufthansa First Class service is designed with great attention to detail, to provide the most pleasant flying experience as possible. From valet parking service, a personal assistant at the airport, limousine service, to access to First Class airport lounges, the First Class service makes sure that every passenger’s needs are met. Meanwhile, the First Class cabin features seats that are ergonomically-designed to provide the maximum level of comfort, which can be transformed into a two-meter-long bed with a comfortable mattress and duvet. An extensive in-flight entertainment program is also available, offering a wide variety of films, TV series, live TV channels, music, audio books, and podcasts from around the world, complete with high-quality Bose noise-canceling headphones and fast broadband Internet access.
First Class passengers can enjoy the sophisticated pleasure of award-winning cuisines on board, elegantly arranged on fine tablewares. Passengers will also be provided with the best selection of wines, which is renewed every month, from the world’s most popular wine-producing regions.
Lufthansa offers a frequent flyer program called Miles & More. When passengers first become a member, passengers will gain a regular Miles & More status. As members earn more miles, passengers can move up their membership status to Frequent Traveler, Senator, and HON Circle Member. Members can earn miles every time they fly with Lufthansa or 40 other airline partners. In addition, members can also earn miles by staying at hotels, rent cars, shop, or use credit cards that are in partnership with Miles & More. Members will gain at least one mile for every euro they spend. Accumulated miles then can be redeemed for various rewards, such as to rent a car or stay at a hotel, to go on a shopping spree, or redeem them for a flight ticket.
Lufthansa offers four types of airport lounges, which are Lufthansa First Class Lounge, Lufthansa Senator Lounge, Lufthansa Business Lounge, and Lufthansa Welcome Lounge. Each lounge has different access criteria, which is based on the passenger’s flight class or frequent flyer status. Passengers traveling on First Class will gain access to all of these four lounges. Meanwhile, Business Class and Premium Economy Class passengers can only gain access to Lufthansa Business Lounge and Lufthansa Welcome Lounge. These lounges are aimed to provide the maximum of comfort for passengers, offering facilities that include a dining area, comfortable armchairs, a quiet room, a smoking room, work areas, toilets, as well as shower rooms.
Dominated by the color navy blue, Lufthansa flight attendant uniform exudes a professional persona. The uniform consists of three pieces of clothing, which are a skirt, shirt, and a blazer. Both the skirt and blazer are in navy blue, while the shirt underneath is in white. The blazer also features a yellow accent on the sleeve, matching with the yellow scarf that the flight attendants wear as an accessory. In addition, the uniform is also completed with a navy blue hat. On October, flight attendants usually discard their navy blue uniforms and wear a traditional German in Lufthansa colors, which are yellow and blue. This is how Lufthansa join in the celebration of Oktoberfest, the world’s largest beer festival held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
